A research team at Universiti Malaya has developed a multimodal AI system capable of detecting AI-generated deepfake videos and audio in Bahasa Malaysia with 97.3% accuracy.
The tool is set to be deployed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to help combat misinformation ahead of state elections.
